Day 25 - Justice - Injustice

 Justice  (Goal Number:         )                                    Injustice

fairness, impartiality, rightness, balance, right reason                              unfairness, wrongness, biased, one-sidedness, dirt

AWAKE TO THE GENUINE VALUE:

Justice is an underlying issue for you. It seems obvious to you that fairness is the way to play any game, including the game of life. You strive to be impartial, remembering Lady Justice wears a blindfold. Things need to be in the right balance, arrived at by right reason. You also realize that justice is difficult to discern, at least in some cases. At times, what seems to be justice for one person or group is unfair to another. Caring deeply for justice, you wrestle with this issue. Is a compromise still justice? Can anyone always have their way? So many questions.

PARTIALLY ASLEEP TO THE GENUINE VALUE:

You are most likely to be concerned about justice for yourself, and sometimes for those you know, for those in your group, for your nation. It is difficult for you to be impartial. Seeking the truth and fairness of the matter seems way too much work. You may get confused about current issues over one thing or another. You question what is right for one group or person versus another. If both cannot have what they want, is there a compromise? You realize all of the complications, but they are not of prime importance to you.

LIVING IN THE IMPOSTOR VALUE:

You complain about life being unfair to you. Where is your justice? You are extremely biased, and your biases often make little if any sense. You see one side only of most any issue, and dismiss others with different points of view as stupid or so wrong they are not worth considering. You can be quite angry and even verbally or physically violent if you get emotional about “your” side of an issue.

Look at your life. Which is the most true for you?   ____ 1   _____ 2  _____ 3

What to do:

                                            DECISION

Choose. Which do you want for yourself and your world? Which way would you like life to be?

FOCUSING YOUR MIND

Going for the target you have chosen

To shift in the direction of justice, select some or all of the following and copy them in order to have them with you. Live with them. Think about them. Absorb them.

·     The best way to play a game is to be fair.

·     I am known for being a fair and balanced person.

·     I can see various sides of an issue, for I look impartially at it.

·     I do my best to reason rightly, free of bias and emotion.

·     I strive to find justice so that everyone wins their fair outcome.

REINFORCING BEHAVIORS

Action steps to take to get off the log\

  • Select an issue that bothers you, one about which you have a bias. Read several different points of view about this issue. Jot down pros and cons in two columns. Weigh them in your mind. What would it be like if one side prevailed? If the other prevailed? Is there a possible compromise?

  • Balance is more than not falling over. Look up meanings, synonyms, and antonyms for the word “balance.” Practice this expanded balance in your life.

  • Practice listening to to others without preparing what you are going to say. Give them a fair listen. Listen to them deeply, including body language, feelings they convey. Do this with friends and family, and also with people on television.

  • Switch channels to hear multiple sides of an issue. You know they are all biased, so look through the eyes of the different biases. Learn to discern real speech vs talking ;points.
